Frequently Asked Questions

If you have any questions we’re always happy to chat things through over the phone, but here are a few questions we get asked on a regular basis:

How much does it cost to charter a yacht?

Easily the question I get asked the most, and my answer usually comes as a surprise: You don’t need to be rich to go on yacht charter holidays. As with most things, you do get what you pay for, and if you’re looking for a big blow out I can certainly help you achieve the trip of a lifetime, but if you’ve never been on a sailing holiday before and don’t want to spend your life savings I can honestly achieve something incredible for any and every budget.

Can I pay in £GBP?

Absolutely, most bookings are confirmed in €EUR but you can make all payments to us in £GBP at the current exchange rate, making sure you never pay more.

What is the security deposit?

Most charter companies require a credit card at check in for a security deposit in case of any damages, this amount is then released at check out once the boat has been looked over by the base staff. There are rarely any issues, but for peace of mind while you are sailing we advise you get your security deposit insured by our partner, Topsail Insurance

What to pack?

We recommend packing everything in soft sided luggage which can then be stowed easily once you’re on board. Shoes with non marking soles for when you’re on board (anything with a white sole should be fine) as well a pair of comfortable shoes for exploring on shore. Snorkels and masks are sometimes provided, but it is recommended to bring your own as generic one size masks don’t always fit that well.

What sailing licenses are accepted?

To sail a boat yourself (bareboat) without a skipper:

In the Mediterranean a minimum of ICC (international certificate of competence) is generally required, you may need to contact the RYA to swap for one of these if you only have a dayskipper certificate. Yachtmaster and Coastal Skipper certificates are also generally accepted. In other areas it is sometimes still possible to charter bareboat simply by providing a log of your sailing experience. If in doubt please ask and we can check your qualifications with the base manager to see if they require anything else.
